Are you not sure how to clean the bathroom? Here are a few steps that you can do in order to clean the bathroom perfectly and quickly.
What you will need to clean the bathroom:
- All-purpose cleaner for surfaces with antibacterial power
- Kitchen paper
- Toilet bowl cleaner
- Toilet brush
- Microfiber cloth
- Baking soda
- Distilled white vinegar
Toilet bowl
- Start by pouring a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl. Let sit for a few minutes, brush off all the product with a toilet brush, and then flush. Spray the toilet seat and upper part of the toilet bowl with the surface cleaner and wipe down with kitchen paper.
- After the toilet bowl has been cleaned, you can clean the toilet brush itself. To secure the brush handle, position it between the toilet seats and bowl so that it is hanging over the bowl. Pour bleach over the bristles and leave it for a few minutes; then rinse with clean water. Next, fill the toilet brush holder with hot, soapy water and let it rest for a few minutes. Afterwards you pour it into the toilet and flush it.
Surfaces
- Spray your surfaces with the all-purpose cleaner. Think about your basin, toilet, countertop, tap and mirror. Dampen your microfiber cloth and wipe down the surfaces with it.
- To have a streak-free finish, you can use kitchen paper to dry the mirror, countertop, taps, basin, and toilet. Use a fresh kitchen paper towel to buff a shine onto the tap and mirror.
Tip: baking soda and water paste does wonder with getting rid of any accumulated dirt. In addition, this mixture works very well as a grout line cleaner between tiles.
Bathtub and shower
- Spray the all-purpose cleaner all over the area and wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth. An all-purpose cleaner DIY version: 1:1 combination of vinegar to water with a few drops of essential oil.
- If you have a fixed shower head that needs a refresh, tie a bag with vinegar on it and leave to soak for half an hour. Then, rinse it off with lukewarm water and dry it off with a damp microfiber cloth (this will also add shine).
- For shower doors, you can make a paste by adding a few drops of distilled white vinegar to a cup of baking soda. Apply it directly to the door. Let sit for an hour, then rub off with a microfiber cloth, and your shower door will look brand new.
Refresh grouts
- Dip a brush with strong bristles in straight bleach and scrub away the desired areas; rinse well. Meanwhile, make sure to open the windows in the room or at least leave the door open, as the smell will be very strong. Our bathroom specialists recommend to seal the grouts every six months to a year to help prevent dirt and mould from setting.
Finishing touches
- Lastly, bathroom bins are often forgotten until they are completely full. We recommend to empty the bin every other week just to make sure that any damp items, like used cotton pads, don´t stay in there for long. Also, consider lining your bathroom bin to avoid hair and gunk building up at the bottom.
- Sweep and mop the floor to clean out all the dirt you loosened while cleaning and which has accumulated from everyday life. Make sure to open a window to dry the area quicker.
- Also, towels will need to be freshened every week. Replace them for the clean sets in your linen closet. You may also want to wash your bathmat every other week.
- Clean the bathroom drains by pouring baking soda down, and then following it up with vinegar. Flush it down with boiling water to complete the process.
