Children’s safety in the bathroom

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Some think it is difficult to combine a modern and elegant bathroom and a safe environment for children. We are here to show you that is not true. Indeed, it is very important for you to feel relaxed and at ease in your bathroom, so products and good practices have been developed to keep it secure while still being suited to your tastes and needs. We are here to guide you to ensure your children’s safety in the bathroom!

Avoid slips at all cost

Bathrooms are known for being slippery places: water, soap, and ceramics can be a dangerous combination.

To prevent your kids from falling, you can very easily add anti-slip mats at strategic places. In front of your bathtub or your shower, at the foot of your washbasin… do not forget to put one inside your shower or your bathtub too!

It also is crucial to give easy access to towels through towel racks, for them to dry off after showering. They can thus suppress the water and reduce considerably slipping risks.

You can as well install a shower curtain, to limit splashes across the room. A shower screen is welcome and can be more aesthetically pleasing, and easier to clean. To facilitate their getting out of the bath, place a stool near it.

Store your risky products away

Children are discovering their world, it is normal for them to be curious! But this curiosity should not lead them to endanger themselves. Nevertheless, the bathroom is usually full of hazardous products: shampoo, soaps, detergents, and electrical devices such as hair dryers or electric shavers… so those must be stored away, where they can’t access them.

We advise you to choose your bathroom furniture so that you can place those products at height. Shelves, tall bathroom cabinets, or wall-mounted bathroom furniture can suffice for that.

If you have a medicine cabinet, it is also advised to put it at height, or to put a lock on it, so that your kids can’t open it. Make sure to have enough storage place, so that you do not let your potentially hazardous devices out.

If you can, choose furniture that have rounded corners, so that they are not hurt if they bump into it.

Grown-ups toilets are for kids too!

The earlier you teach your kids how to use the toilet, the easier. It will also relieve you from having to wash the potty every time! That is very easily doable, thanks to the kids toilet seat.

You can choose to buy a toilet reducer, that they can place under your toilet seat when they go to the toilet, or you can buy a toilet seat with a children seat included.

To help them climb the toilets, you can put a stool near it. Like this, you can keep your toilets kids friendly while still being fitted to your tastes.
