Rimless or not: What is the difference?

The rim is the superior part of the pan, a fold that hides the area through which the flushing water is propelled. What is the point of deleting it? To gain in hygiene as a traditional rim is quite difficult to clean entirely and bacterias accumulate inevitably. With the rimless system, cleaning becomes much easier and the design of the pan is clearer. Moreover, the DirectFlush system made by Villeroy & Boch (on rimless models) is especially designed to optimize the volume of water used per flush and thus enables real savings in water.
