“Why can’t we get boiling water from the mixer tap in our home?” This question led Henri Petri to create the world’s first boiling-water tap. Firstly, he sold his taps to family members and acquaintances, to rave reviews. Introduced in 1992, the very first Quooker tap was a hit. Today the company produces more than 110,000 Quookers with a turnover that doubles every year.
What is a Quooker tap?
A Quooker tap is, first of all, a tap that will meet all of your requirements for boiling water. Whether it is to make tea, pasta, or sterilize the baby bottle, there is no longer any need to wait – it comes out already boiled!
Dedicated to always take their taps to the next level, Quooker’s most recent ranges offer filtered and/or sparkling water. Not only will these taps save you money by eliminating the need to buy a kettle and soda machine, but they have amazing features which will make your time in the kitchen more enjoyable.
How does it work ?
Contrary to what you might think, Quooker taps do not need a furnace for the kitchen. Each tap consists of two parts: the faucet on your sink and a tank under that stores the water at a temperature of 110°C. The tanks are well insulated and consume only a small amount of energy – they have the energy label A.
Plus, the taps are very easy to operate for daily use. Just turn the security button on the base to get boiling water. With the mixer taps, you can turn on the boiling water by using the lever.
Is it really safe?
Unlike a kettle or a pot that you could spill, Quooker taps are idle and the spouts are well insulated. It considerably reduces the risk of burns and scalding.
Moreover, all the taps feature a safety button to prevent children from turning on the boiling water. To get boiling water, you first need to push the button, then push it again while twisting. This move is not intuitive for children, keeping them safe.
Lastly, to prevent adults from getting burned, a red light turns on to warn the users that the hot water is on. The boiling spray is made of tiny droplets, so if you get your hands too close, you will feel the heat before an accident happens.
